Come along and have a giggle - 'National Smile Month'
COME ALONG AND HAVE A GIGGLE
This is about ‘National Smile Month’ and we are doing a one day event at our centre to support this. It is important to care for your teeth, not only to be confident in smiling, but also for a healthy mouth, a healthy heart, and a healthy person. We hope to give you a healthy lunch and healthy drinks at dinner-time to help you to see how healthy eating affects your teeth (and your body). We shall have a selection of healthy snacks available throughout the day. We shall show sugar swaps, ie, coke for diet coke, sweets for carrot sticks, grapes. The day will be broken into four sessions with similar messages but different presentations to appeal to different groups, etc. There will be ‘Smile Sticks’ too for all to use and have some photographs take of this too, should be fun!! Parents and children can all take part! There is nothing like a smile and a giggle to keep you feeling well - a medical fact! There may be a few jokes on the day! Also, you will be shown how to clean your teeth effectively, and also where to go to get a dentist if you do not already have one, and why it is important for six-monthly check-ups?

Bardon Grange Project
Hello everyone and hope you are enjoying the springtime abundance.
Help plant our new garden on campus!
We have been very busy growing plants for our new space on campus, which is in Chancellors court, next to the Roger Stevens building. Based on the award winning Leeds University Chelsea garden from last year, as well as ideas from our students, the garden has a mini forest garden, an edible hedge, annual vegetables, salad and herbs, and wildflower meadows, as well as a lawn area and benches for people to relax on. Being right in the centre of campus, this space is open to all, and the idea is that people can come and pick the produce when they want. Bardon Grange will be managing the edible areas of it, and will be running extra sessions there for students, staff and local people to help maintain it.
Initially we are hosting a series of lunchtime and after work gardening sessions to plant the edible areas of the garden:

We will have blood pressure monitors and diabetes checking on the day, for those interested. A nurse will be present to do this, or you can do it yourself they are safe and can be bought over the pharmacy counter for self use. Short walk and breathlessness discussions and activity.
